This past weekend was a long one for some and for the rest of us, well we had to work on Friday. That does not mean that we didn’t make the best of Thursday’s public holiday! Ryno and I decided to head out to Stellenbosch for lunch as I hadn’t been there in quite a while. After finding a few of our favourite spots were closed for the holiday, we headed to an old favourite, Java for their chai lattes (a.k.a. liquid pancakes) and pizza.
Light pink coats in all shapes have been popping up everywhere. It is no surprise that this runway hit has been adopted into so many street style looks as it is the perfect foil to autumn darker palette. Pink is one of the most universally flattering colours and always injects a little femininity into any look. Investing in a coloured coat can be quite daunting, but it feels less daunting to pair it with a neutral palette . A pink coat looks particularly refreshing paired with a minimalist outfit so that the unique colour can take center stage. Will you be daring to invest in a pink coat this autumn/winter?
I am trying to do a little round-up of the biggest trends for this coming winter and the two most obvious would have to be animal prints and (hopefully) fake fur. These trends were ALL OVER the runways over the past few seasons and this one is going to be no different.
Starting off with animal prints, it is clear that we are no longer limited to leopard, though it is still a major contender. Other animal prints getting some much needed attention are giraffe, snake, cow and dalmatian. This trend can be one the most affordable trends to incorporate into your wardrobe as all you really need is a nice clutch. If you are feeling more daring, why not try Louis Vuitton-inspired pants or a lovely Burberry trench.
Fur is another trend that is going to continue being huge this coming winter. Whether you choose fake fur or real fur is up to you, but honestly putting my beliefs aside, because this is a trend a good quality fake fur will give you the best value for money. Keep the look modern by going all out and get an entire coat, not just a collar. I love the fact that you can look cute and stylish whilst still being cosy and comfy.
Whilst I am still waiting for some proper summer days here in Cape Town, this certainly has got me excited for the coming season. What runway trends are you most looking forward to trying? I still have a few trends to discuss.
