It is clear that beanies are the hottest way to cozy up this winter. Beanies were spotted all over the runway this season and worn with a variety of looks, both casual and more formal looks. It is also the perfect way to hide unruly winter hair, so it is a win-win situation. It is the most practical and affordable trend this season.
This trend has been growing these past few seasons and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. The best way to incorporate this material would be in a single statement piece- eg a dress or matchstick pants. As the material is quite opulent, try pairing it a chunky knit to get a little contrast and create interest. Jacquard on Jacquard would be too much.
So there you have it- my final edition of the Pra-fall 2013 trends. So tell me, which are you most looking forward to?
Feminine looks were all over the runways this season and my favourite of these would have to be all the sequins and ruffle designs.
Sequins are amazing because of their ability to transform even the most simple silhouette into something amazing. Sequins look great on both girly designs as well as more edgier looks like those of Matthew Williamson. Sequins also look amazing when dressed down for a more casual day look, so it is definitely worth investing in. Even though the official party season is over, this is the perfect excuse for hosting a glamorous party.Ruffles are another great trend for this coming winter. It adds a much needed feminine touch to the season which is often dominated by more masculine silhouets. The ruffles can be either soft and flowy as seen at Chloe or more structural and architectural as seen at Givenchy and Lela Rose. Whichever you choose, make sure it is figure flattering and doesn’t add extra bulk where you don’t want it.
I am looking forward to making my winter wardrobe more feminine by trying a sequined DIY beanie for starters.
I am trying to do a little round-up of the biggest trends for this coming winter and the two most obvious would have to be animal prints and (hopefully) fake fur. These trends were ALL OVER the runways over the past few seasons and this one is going to be no different.
Starting off with animal prints, it is clear that we are no longer limited to leopard, though it is still a major contender. Other animal prints getting some much needed attention are giraffe, snake, cow and dalmatian. This trend can be one the most affordable trends to incorporate into your wardrobe as all you really need is a nice clutch. If you are feeling more daring, why not try Louis Vuitton-inspired pants or a lovely Burberry trench.
Fur is another trend that is going to continue being huge this coming winter. Whether you choose fake fur or real fur is up to you, but honestly putting my beliefs aside, because this is a trend a good quality fake fur will give you the best value for money. Keep the look modern by going all out and get an entire coat, not just a collar. I love the fact that you can look cute and stylish whilst still being cosy and comfy.
Whilst I am still waiting for some proper summer days here in Cape Town, this certainly has got me excited for the coming season. What runway trends are you most looking forward to trying? I still have a few trends to discuss.
