Style Icon: Gwendoline Christie

Stellar performances in both GoT and Star Wars aside, Gwendoline Christie (perhaps better known to Game of Thrones fans as Brienne of Tarth) has recently been rocking the red carpet. It should come as no surprise considering she’s modelled for Vivienne Westwood and is dating designer Giles Deacon. Far from her on-stage androgynous looks, Gwendoline frequently favours more feminine pieces on the red carpet like the sequined Vivienne Westwoord wrap dress or monochromatic and fitted Oscar de La Renta at the Star Wars premiere.

Although her every day wardrobe is often characterised by somewhat eccentric accessories, she sticks to a neutral palette of metallics, creams, navy, black and white on the red carpet. Chameleon-like she shifts from feminine dresses and curled hair to structured pant suits and slicked-back hair, both with similar success.

I look forward to seeing her future red carpet appearances thanks to roles in the next Star Wars and Absolutely Fabulous.

Style Icon: Jessica Chastain

Jessica ChastainShe’s not only an amazing actress, she’s got style too! Whether dressing for the red carpet or or not, she is always classicaly beautiful. Sticking to traditional designers such as Elie Saab, Sarah Burton and Oscar de la Renta for her redcarpet looks seem to work for her. Her off-duty style consists of beautiful coats, designer bags and boots with skinny jeans. The transition is seamless!  She manages to pull off a wide variety of looks from florals and sequins to lace and embroidery with great success. She does it all with so much class and grace. My favourites are the red coat and blue Elie Saab cocktail number. I can’t wait to see what she will wear for the Oscars! What are your favourites?

Runway Favourite: Oscar de la Renta

As always the the designs of Oscar de la Renta were some of my favourite. It was the perfect combination of playfulness and class with cute short-combo’s, brights pinks and turqs, really great accessories and signature styles in black and white.

Some of my favourite dresses featured appliqued flowers made by hand from tulle and embroidery. His attention to detail is just magnificent!

His attention to detail can also be seen in the accessories he has chosen. The jewellery and brooches are playful and fun featuring coloured stones and classic designs. The rose necklace that Karlie Kloss featured in the opening look is amazing! I also liked the shoes, especially the classic strappy stiletto’s. It is fashion without trying to be different. I like the fact that most of the looks were belted at the middle as this creates an extremely flattering waistline even on non-model figures.
The show finished on a high note with some silver and black evening dresses. The dresses varied from princess style to sleek and simple. The addition of the silver belts were pure genius!

Wouldn’t you love to see Duchess Catherine wear one of these simple black numbers? I think it could work as long as she decides to stick with the runway shoes.

This collection truly is fit for a princess!
