As a young French actress she has the opportunity to wear a lot of Chanel and she fully embraces it, giving the brand a more youthful flair. Just look at the Chanel Joaillerie star stud earring she is wearing with the black dress. Just by wearing it higher on the ear, she instantly updates the classic. I like her approach to feminine dresses as instead of trying to toughen it up, she embraces its femininity and makes it seem simple and easy with no-fuss hair and make-up. She always manages to look polished though and never strays into Alexa territory (trying too hard). She obviously favours a LWD (little white dress) to its more famous counterpart, but it suits her femininity and simplicity better so it is a good thing. Far to many young actresses think of a LBD as a uniform. As far as favourites go, I am torn between the denim dress and her chic jeans look. Whilst I am more likely to wear the jeans look, the denim dress is what first drew me to her, so that is the clear winner in my books. It is edgy, youthful, fun and super stylish and I love the pop of tangerine all paired with her lovely hair- I imagine that it would make Karl very happy. I can’t wait to see what she will be wearing at the Cannes Festival this year. Holding thumbs for more Chanel Couture!
The Cannes Film Festival is usually known for opulent gowns and extravagance, but this year the black and white trend took over and made the entire event feel more simplistic. Everyone from Rooney Mara and Jennifer Lawrence in Dior to Emma Watson in Chanel and a slew of other stars went with the trend. There are two ways to approach the trend: either go classic with a red lip and classic jewels or minimalist with barely there make-up and jewelery for a more modern feel. This trend is one that can easily be recreated at home and can be adjusted to suit anyone’s lifestyle and budget. Just remember, less really is more!
Alicia Vikander has been on my style radar ever since spotting her in that amazing Chanel at the Emmy Awards. The young Anna Karenina startlet seems to have a very good relationship with Karl as she has worn several Chanel couture dresses with great success. I think she would be a great Chanel face, what do you think? Alicia is not all sugar and spice as she has also rocked a few edgier pieces from Dior, Rodarte and Opening Ceremony. My favourite being her sheer Louis Vuitton checkered dress with bright heels. She managed to make the edgy dress seem relevant despite the fact that legions of celebs that have worn the collection before her. I will definitely be keeping my eye on her.
