Home Haul

I mentioned a home haul a little earlier this month and I’m so happy to finally share with you a few things that have made our home a little more enjoyable these past few weeks. I do want to add a disclaimer, as we moved into our first home with only the bare essentials so we did have to buy almost everything that we needed brand new. Some of the stuff included were also gifts. So I don’t buy this much stuff on the regular!

You might recognise this grey candle holder from one of my previous posts, and I still love it! It adds just enough drama without being too dark and is the perfect home for my succulent. DSC_13111

I have been eyeing the smaller version of this gold mirrored tray for a while so when I spotted the slightly larger one I couldn’t resist! It is the perfect size to hold all my perfumes, makeup brushes and other beauty items I use on a daily basis. As a bonus it not only looks pretty but helps keep everything looking neat too.DSC_1413

Moving on to kitchen related items, these blue bowls from Woolworths are my absolute favourite! The spotted blue one is from W Studio’s Armadillo range and the patterned blue one has unfortunately sold out. Indigo is such a strong trend this season, but I feel that classic blue bowls will transcend the season. And they are perfect for summer braais!

I also bought two white ramekins with different patterns on them. They make the perfect dipping or snack bowls and I even use one for sugar.

I had been looking for the perfect kitchen utensil holder for a while, and whilst the white Le Creuset one tempted me I never had the courage to splurge more on it than any of my utensils! When I saw this tin one from Mr Price home I was instantly sold. It is large enough to house my now extensive selection of utensils without being crowded and deep enough so that nothing falls out. Inside I have a range of stainless steel utensils from Baccarat and my all-time-favourite silicone spatulas and spoons.

During the move Ryno and I lost a whole box of glasses, including our miss-matched wine glasses and the beautiful set of glasses we had invested in during univeristy. We struggled to find replacements that we liked without breaking the bank, bearing in mind that we had a whole kitchen to fill. In the absense of wine glasses, drinking glasses and mugs that fit under our espressso machine we chose these cafe style tumblers from Woolworths. They were an absolute steal at less than R12 each and are perfect for everything from fruit juice to coffee. We have even served wine in it, Italian style 😉

Finally, I have something a little less “needed” but absolutely beautiful and very useful. I rotate my rose gold mirror between the bathroom for when I want to apply a mask in the bath to my bedroom window sill for when I want to apply make-up in natural light.

I’d love to know what have been your favourite home finds? I finally feel like we have the basics down (except for white plates!) so I can start focusing on more decor related items. First up is our gallery wall! So give me shout out if you’d like to see more of that!
