I have to admit that I don’t have the most glamorous cupboard. Sure I’ve gathered a few nice dresses for events that I have attended, but I was in desperate need for a little black dress for when my jeans and fancy-top just won’t cut it.
Finding the perfect one is however easier said than done. Since I struggle the most with dressing up during the colder months, one with sleeves was essential. I also didn’t want it to be too tight (so that I can enjoy the food) or in a shiny fabric.
Enter this lace dress from Woolworths. It is black lace with a scalloped skirt and sleeves. A dropped waist isn’t a silhouette I normally gravitate towards but somehow the proportions of this one works. The skirt doesn’t flare too much and the top isn’t too loose.
I styled it casually with simple gold jewellery from Zuri and a vintage pearl necklace from my grandma, black bow flats (from Mr Price) and a simple bow in the hair to somewhat disguise my frizzy hair (thanks rain!). It was perfect for a simple dinner date.
It would look just as good on a chilly summer evening as with stockings in the winter. All this plus the fact that it was on sale made it completely irresistable.
